"Alveston Girls, Go Go Go !!"

Season 2007 / 2008

Season 2009 / 2010

Saturday February 6th 2010:-  Callowbrook Swifts  2  v  4  Alveston Girls

There are plenty of times when as a manager i feel very proud of the players who perform each and every week for this Alveston side and never more so than after this match. Playing with only 10 players due to Abigails injury we managed to twice come from behind to secure our 5th away win of the season and earn 3 more valuable points that keep us 2nd in the table, an amazing achievement. Early pressure saw us earn many corners without scoring and it was with the home sides first attack that saw them take the lead. Then from another Stav corner the defender deflected the ball into her own net under pressure from Hannah. Amy was playing well in defence and went on several runs up into attack with the ball as her confidence grew. Laura wasnt going to be intimidated in defence either and Ellie who is in great form made so many tackles and runs forward she had a great game today. Callowbrook re-took the lead with a super long range effort from out wide. Hayley held the ball up well and showed some good turns and skilful touches while Becky ran all day and put in the effort to help make up for our missing player.

Zara went clean through on goal only to see the keeper tip the ball away for a corner from which Stav crossed to see the defender slice the ball into her own net for our equalizer. Still we attacked with Ellie in support but with Hannah well marked it was left to Stav to shoot us ahead with a powerful shot, a goal which her efforts today fully deserved.  Stevie who got out of her sick bed to play got her special moment when from fully 30 yards she shot high over everyone into the net for a superb goal to clinch us the points. The committment, effort and attitude shown today by all 10 players was a joy to see, the win was fully deserved and it keeps us in 2nd spot for now. Every player helped each other out, we with stood a difficult team to play against, yet kept playing our football and came out as winners on the day. Superb football girls, brilliant.

Saturday January 30th 2010:- Alveston Girls  3  v  0  Solihull Borough

The girls stretched there unbeaten league run to 7 games, 5 wins and 2 draws which dates back to early October last year, and this win sees them hold onto 2nd place in the league though teams below them do have games in hand. A clean sheet was very pleasing and Ellie, Laura, Amy and Fiona should take the credit for that, well done girls. Stevie played excellent and is in good current form as is Abigail in midfield who looked strong and quick when on the ball. Both Hayley and Zara came alive in the 2nd half on the wings putting in some good crosses from both sides. Becky tackled well, had a couple of long range shots herself too. Stav went on some great runs beating several opponents along the way but couldnt find the net herself. While Hannah completed another hat trick for the side by scoring all 3 goals, all from close in on goal and all by being in the right place at the right time, some real goal poachers goals.

Pitch was hard to start with, tempretures were cold for all those watching but another 3 valuable home points made all the effort to make sure the game was played worth while. Solihull continue to improve and had several efforts late on but most were wide of the target. Good to return to winning ways, goal difference improved further and 3 points at a time when many other teams saw there games postponed yet again. Well done girls, good team effort today.

Saturday January 23rd 2010:- Open Cup Quarter-Final Alveston Girls  2  v  7  Penn Colts

Playing their first match for over a month the girls were not at their best against a strong premier side. Conceeding an early goal didnt help matters and it took the girls a while to settle down. An own goal made it 0 v 2 until Hannah bravely charged down a clearance and managed to be first onto the ball and side foot home with her left foot to bring the girls back into the game. Stav was causing problems dwon the right hand side with some good crosses and shot on goal but it was the visitors who scored again just before the break. Penn appeared stronger and more determined in the tackles while some home players were performaing a little below par.

Penn scored more goals after the break. Abigail put in a good effort in midfield and Hannah scored her 2nd goal when she met another cross from Stav to side foot past the keeper. Hayley had a couple of efforts in front of goal and Fiona did make some good saves to help keep the score down. Hayley passed well to Hannah who shot just wide, Ellie made some good runs in support of Stav but generally the girls were 2nd best today, so lets put this game behind us and return to our excellent league form so far this season in our next match.

Saturday December 12th 2009:-  Alveston Girls  2  v  2  Callowbrook Swifts

The point gained from this game means we stay in 2nd place for now, and extends our unbeaten run to 7 games, a record for the squad. The first period of the match saw us attacking creating several chances and some excellent crosses from the right from Stav and some good runs down the left by Zara. Hannah saw her shot go over the bar, Hayley was unable to convert a cross at the far post before she played a great through ball into the path of stav Stav who ran on and scored to give us the lead. The visitors fought well especially in midfield without causing Fiona too many problems early on. The game continued on a fairy evenly balanced level and at half time the more chances we created counted in our favour. The visitors came out for the 2nd half on the front foot and they equalized with a super long range effort that looped over Fiona's head. Amy looked good on the left and Stevie and Abigail were strong and busy in midfield. Becky was controlling the centre of defence supported by Laura and Ellie who were all kept busy in the 2nd half. From a mix up in the defence and with the ball not cleared Hannah managed to poke the ball home to allow us to regain the lead. But still the visitors came at us and having earned a free kick they scored when we failed to clear away the danger. Fiona made another good save and catch while Hannah and Zara had efforts to win the game. A point each was a fair result in a good game of girls football.

Saturday December 5th 2009:-  Burton Albion  0  v  6  Alveston Girls

The game saw these two teams meeting for the first ever time, and it was Alveston who having made the long journey who came away with the points. The early part of the game saw Alveston begin to assert pressure and chances came and went for Zara, Stav, Hannah and Hayley, with the keeper blocking several attempts. Abigails long corners were good but we were unable to make them count inside the box. From a pass from Becky it was Hannah who opened the scoring when she firmly placed her shot past the keeper. Stav then rattled the cross bar with a powerful effort. Amy was passing well with Hayley on the left while Zara was causing problems on the right hand side of the attack. Ellie, Laura and Stevie dealt with anything coming back from Burton while Fiona had a quiet game and collected and kicked as and when required. Amy then scored her first ever goal for the club when she connected with a cross from the right to score past the keeper. She then needed treatment for a nose bleed before re-joining the action only later to need further treatment for an ankle injury and a back problem!! Abigail was having another strong game in midfield alongside Becky. Both Hayley and Stav were getting forward on either flank and the pressure was maintained during the 2nd half.

Stevie moved up into midfield allowing Ellie more freedom to make her runs down the right hand side. Hayley then scored well across the keeper into the corner to make it 3 v 0 before Stav scored for the 5th game running, a goal which she richly deserved for all her hard work today. Laura played very well in defence both breaking up attacks and starting moves from the back linking well with Amy down the left hand side who seemed to enjoy her new role in this match. Abigail then broke clear of 2 defenders before thundering a shot into the goal, on a very strong and powerful run. Zara in attack had helped in 2 of the goals, had a couple of efforts saved and wasnt going to be denied a goal of her own as Hannah cut the ball back very unselfishly across the face of the goal allowing Zara to score at the far post for her first ever goal since recently joining us. Another good team performance, with every player working hard for each other, some excellent passing moves and some strong tackling. For now we are up to 2nd place in the table, a clean sheet and 6 different goal scorers today, well done girls and thanks for all the parents support today too.

Saturday Nevember 28th 2009:- Alveston Girls  4  v  4  Brinklow Girls

Another classic match against our friends from Brinklow ended all square after a dramatic last minutes play. Brinklow took the lead and pressed hard early on and could of scored more. Then we came into the match, Stav shot wide then had a shot saved before she sidefooted home after controlling the ball well. Brinklow restored the lead before Hayley scored from close range. Both sides then had shots either going just wide or saved and we all just knew there was going to be more goals as both defences didnt look secure at all. Abigail captained the side on her 50th appearance. Zara looks very comfortable on the ball and used her speed and skill well. We then took the lead for the only time in the match when Hayley nipped in before the keeper to score her 2nd. The whole match was end to end with both sides determined to play non stop attacking football. The pace was fast and several players struggled to cope fitness wise because of this pace.

2nd half saw Brinklow on the attack and they scored twice to give them back the lead. Zara and Hayley both had goals disallowed for offside before Zara hit the post, after Brinklow had also hit the woodwork. The visitors saw an effort run across the goal before Fiona saved another effort. Hannah when clean through on goal shot just wide and it looked like an away win. Then in the last minute Stav ran clear on goal but was fouled before she could get her shot away and we were awarded a penalty. The game was delayed while Stav recieved treatment after which Hayley stepped up, completed her hat trick and earned us a vital point by stroking home the penalty, our first in 2 years, in what must of been a very tense moment for her. Well done thats 2 hat tricks in 2 weeks for Hayley, and as a team to come back from going behind 3 times shows the excellent team spirit amongst the squad. 5 games unbeaten now is our best ever run of results, well done everyone. Praise to Liz and her girls today for there part in a great game of girls football, thanks to everyone for there effort today.

Saturday November 21st 2009:- Cup Match last 16 Alveston Girls  4  v  2  Brinklow Girls

Was great to welcome our friends from Brinklow to the Home Guard for a game that turned out to be an excellent game of girls football played in a great spirit which was a close encounter and a great cup tie. No goals in the first 16 minutes showed the closeness and the visiting keeper had made some excellent saves in aprticular when she punched over the bar a powerfull effort from Hannah. Our strikers did miss some good efforts but thats how it goes in football sometimes. We created many chances but couldnt score until Abigail burst through to score for the 2nd week running. Thats how it remained until half time. We won several corners, Stav made some good runs down the right but we couldnt increase our lead.

The 2nd hald saw Brinklow come at us and they scored a good equalizer to level the match. Abigail then scored again followed by Hannah, her 30th for the club. Still the visitors attacked and scored a super 2nd only to see Stav drive down the right and score past the keeper to seal the match. The players committment from both teams was great and it was an enjoyable match for all those watching. Players from both teams should be pleased with there efforts, and the teams meet again in the league this saturday.

Saturday November 14th 2009:- Woodlands  3  v  7  Alveston Girls

Our 11 players made the long 90min trip to Derby with an early start but enjoyed the long trip home with 3 valuable points safely tucked away and well deserved. Despite a swirling wind the weather wasnt as bad as expected. Friendly hosts woodlands enjoyed a good game and scored 3 goals themselves in an excellent game of girls football. Hayley opened the scoring running onto a through ball and scoring after just 4 minutes. Before too long she scored again shooting home between the keepers legs. It was 3 to Alveston after a good strong run down the right stav scored into the corner, an excellent goal. The defence of Laura who again had an assured game, Amy who looks very confident in the middle and who made several important tackles during the match and then Ellie who had an outstanding game on the right, all looked good. Ellie made several strong runs into attack and made crosses from them, she really is in top form.

Stevie and Abigail both tackled, intercepted and ran all game to day and looked competitive. Stav dominated down the right while it was great to see Zara make her debut on the left. She used her pace and skills several times today, cutting inside her marker and making many excellent passes, she will be a good asset for our squad and we all look forward to seeing more of her in our next few games, well done today. Becky covered a lot of ground in midfield today too and put in another solid performance herself. Up front Hayley partnered Hannah and they scored 5 goals between them today. Woodlands scored there first from an excellent free kick high over the wall, a super goal. Hannah scored her first shooting home past the keeper to make it 1 v 4 at half time.

Our parents saw some great attacking football today, some good passes between players and some good finishing. In the 2nd half we as a team allowed Woodlands to score twice more and might be disappointed to of done so but we were still scoring goals in attack. Hayley completed her first ever hat trick soon after, then Abigail volleyed home before Hannah added her own 2nd goal of the game. Hannah then hit a post as did Zara right at the end of the match. Fionas kicking was again good despite the conditions and having secured a 3rd win in a row we should all be pleased with a result which lifts us into 3rd in the league table. 7 goals away from home, an excellent debut from Zara, a good game of football to watch and some good passing football on show, means Alveston Girls have had another successful and happy day, well done girls.

Saturday November 7th 2009 :- Alveston Girls 5  v  2  Stratford Town Girls

Playing our 1st match in 3 weeks and with only 10 players due to illness it was always going to be a tough match against our friends from Stratford Town. The visitors opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes when Heal shot past advancing keeper Fiona. Alveston didnt panic and soon after the ball broke to Hannah wide on the right hand side close to the touch line. She controlled the ball before volleying the ball powerfully high over the keeper straight into the top of the far corner of the net for an outstanding finish, a real quality goal to level the scores. The goal restored the players confidence and gave the large crowd a real lift. Fiona then made two excellent saves tipping shots round the post to keep the home side in the match. Laura was playing really well in defence tackling and clearing the ball away on numerous occassions. Alongside her Ellie was in great form and cleared several loose balls away as well as starting several attacks. Also in defence was Amy who looked very controlled and between the 3 of them they kept Stratford at bay. Stav then broke free down the right hand side, she cut inside the full back before poking the ball home underneath the advancing keeper to give us the lead.

In midfield Becky was playing her best ever match for the home side, battling for every ball, making many great passes and many tackles too. With her was Stevie whose fitness has improved and she looks an excellent player who never gave up today and she also made many tackles and clearances. At the heart of midfield was Abigail who ran her socks off for us today, forward and backward all match great play. Then we had Stav who looked completely done in at the end of the match due to the miles she must of covered today, superb. Up in attack we had Hayley who closed down so many balls, made so many tackles and challanges and held up the ball brilliantly today and really helped the team. Hannah was in top form and scored goals of outstanding quality today for her hat trick. As half time approached Stratford attacked and Amy cleared a ball away which looked goal bound and Fiona made another good save. The 10 girls of Alveston were matching the visitors who arrived with a full squad of 16 players.

Early in the 2nd half Stratford attacked several times but first Ellie then Laura cleared away loose balls before Amy saved a one on one with an attacker and again made the tackle and cleared the ball away. Then 2 goals in 5 minutes for Hannah. Firstly she shot over the tall keepers head high into the roof of the net when there looked like no space to do so and then when the keeper kicked a ball clear it landed at Hannahs feet. She got the ball onto her right foot and before the retreating keeper could get back into her goal Hannah had shot and scored from fully 30 yards out into an empty net to complete her hat trick. Great goals from her today. Still Stratford came forward but our defence and midfield held firm until Stratford scored from a corner through Heal again to make it 4 v 2 with 10 mins remaining. Stratford had many attacks due to there extra numbers on the pitch but several shots went wide or were cleared away for corners. We need not of worried as from a pass from Stevie, Stav raced clear from the half way line, out paced the defender, went round the keeper and scored a sensational goal to send the watching crowd into raptures, a superb finish. The 10 players who wore the Alveston shirt today did so with pride, played fully committed football for the club, wanted to win and ran and chased for the full 80 minutes to make sure they won the game today. A superb team effort, one i was very proud to be a part of, well done girls an excellent day.

Saturday October 17th 2009:- Solihull Borough  2  v  3  Alveston Girls

By giving every effort right up until the final minute of the match Alveston came away with all 3 points. Hannah shot over early on and we won several corners but were unable to take advantage of them. Ellie controlled things at the back while Becky and Abigail tried to get a grip on midfield. We took the lead when Hannah got hold of a loose ball from a corner to score into the corner of the goal. Solihull equalized with a fine high shot into the roof of the net from distance. Stav and Hayley were trying to bring the ball under control and Laura looked secure at the back but the quality was missing today. The game was very scrappy without too much quality football on show from either side despite plenty of effort. Chances were very few for either side until 10 minutes from time when we were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Up stepped Abigail to score with a super shot over the wall into the net. However back came the hosts again to score when a long range effort eluded Fionas finger tips and the ball dropped over the line. Surely now a draw as time was nearly up but no. Hannah ran onto a through ball, held off a defender and she lashed a fantastic shot high into the goal to send the players and supporters wild with delight. Neither side deserved to lose but a goal like that does deserve to win matches.

Saturday October 10th 2009:- Alveston Girls  1  v  9  Lichfield Diamonds

Mistakes will often lead to goals and teams being punished especially against such strong opposition as the league leaders and title favourites Lichfield Diamonds. However the team spirit, the effort from everyone who played yesterday and the committment of those loyal to the club will always be appreciated and cannot be faulted, thank you. Lets move onto next week.

Saturday October 3rd 2009:- Kingshurst Sporting  5  v  1  Alveston Girls

In the extreme winds it was almost impossible for either side to play any decent football but the home side adapted better and scored 2 early goals to gain the advantage. With some players playing below there usual level of performance it was always going to be an uphill battle for Alveston but they did get back into the match early in the 2nd half when Ellie shot low into the far corner. Georgie then had a chance but delayed her shot too long while Stav saw her 2 shots both go wide of the post. Laura cleared a goal chance off the line while Kristi and Amy both did all they could to keep the visitors in the game. Kingshurst scored a deflected shot into the goal followed soon after by a superb long range effort and then when Alveston failed to clear a loose ball they scored again. Bad day at the office for Alveston but better days ahead with a committed team spirit. Chins up!

Saturday September 26th 2009:- Alveston Girls  7  v  2  Headless Cross

The girls followed up an excellent away win last week with another 3 hard earned points at home this time against a very strong Headless Cross side. Early in the match Stav broke down the right hand side, cut inside her marker before going around the keeper to score into the empty net. She then repeated this soon after to double the lead. Fiona in goal then saved well in a one on one situation before Headless did score when the striker broke away free to score. Georgie scored her fist home goal for the club in the league to further increase the home sides lead. Both sides won several corners and the visitors always looked a threat going forward. Good to see Laura, Jodie and Stevie held out well in defence marshalled by Amy at the center of the defence. Georgie then added her 2nd to make the half time score 4 v 1 with Hayley, Abigail and Stav all performing well in midfield together with plenty of tireless running from Hannah up front. Hannah had a good effort well saved by the visiting keeper before Fiona again saved when the striker was clean through on goal.

Georgie was denied her hat trick when she shot over the bar and then saw an effort saved but she wasnt to be denied when she scored powerfully past the keeper, having been played in by Hayley. Still headless Cross continued to come forward and they scored again direct from a free kick, a great shot over the wall. Stav then soon after scored to complete her own hat trick with a strong shot across the keeper but Alveston had to defened several corners still.  The keeper then pushed out another shot only to see Hannah be on hand to score her first of the season. She then rounded the keeper but the angle was too sharp and her shot hit the side netting.  Both sides played some excellent football, Alveston took there chances and despite having no substitutions on the day every player performed above what could of been expected and there great efforts were rewarded with another hard fought 3 points which sees them top the league table on goal difference for the time being. The large crowd should be very proud of every single player who played in this game, a real treat to watch, great committment and good team work.

Saturday September 19th 2009:- Erdington Ladies 2 v 6 Alveston Girls

Alveston travelled to Birmingham for this lunch time kick off in warm dry weather for there first league game of the new season. The girls started at full pace and were 0 v 3 ahead after just 10 minutes. First Georgie scored her first league goal on her league debut followed soon after by a goal shot into the far corner by Stav and then Becky shot from distance and watched as her looping shot went over the keepers head to give us an excellent start. Fiona in goal dealt with several through balls but Amy was managing the defence alongside Ellie and Laura very well. Hannah kept the home defence busy but it was Georgie who made the score 0 v 4 before the home side got a goal back. Jodie linked up well from midfield and Abbey tackled strong in the centre. Both sides showed good committment to play good football in the heat and the pace of the game was good. Captains Becky and Hayley looked comfortable in midfield showing good stamina. Stevie slotted into defence well when she came on. Kristy came on and was soon off again when she was knocked out cold following a boot to her face. She recovered well but played no further part in the match.

Becky took a good corner in the 2nd half which following a mad scramble was put into her own net off a defender. Erdington never gave up and scored another following a break away and good shot. They had other chances too but failed to hit the target. A glancing header then put Hayley clean through on goal, she composed herself before beating the advancing keeper before the chasing 2 defenders could catch her. A great start to the season for Alveston against a good strong side. Any win on the opening day of a season is good especially away from home saw Alveston collect 3 valuable points.

Season 2008 / 2009

Saturday May 16th 2009:- Alveston Invitation Cup Final 2nd Leg:- Alveston Girls  2  v  3  Stratford Town Girls ( Alveston win 6  v  5  on aggregate )

Despite scoring 2 own goals on the day Alveston were able to lift the cup at the final whistle after victory over the two matches against Stratford Town. Georgie opened the scoring with her first goal for the club when she shot passed the advancing keeper. With Jihe away in France Ellie took over the sweepers role and she played a great role in defence well supported by Amy and Kristi alongside her. Stav was  making excellent runs down the left hand side linking up well with both Jodie and Hayley going forward.  Stratford equalized before half time when the defender attempted to clear the ball only for the ball to drop over the keepers head. Fiona was taken off injured before half time so Jodie went in goal for the rest of the match. Georgie went close, Hannah saw a shot saved while Stratford had severl chances to score before the break. Abigail and Becky were again standing up to the midfield battle.

Chloe was strong in midfield while Mae came on and looked very bright. Laura looked assured in defence while Stevie tackled well in the midfield area. The windy and often wet conditions did not help the play but both teams were really trying to claim victory. Stratford took the lead when the striker scored to give the visitors hope. Both sides continued to attack and it was Stratford who had some clear opening but who failed to score. Stav and Gerogie both looked dangerous going on runs down each wing and it was from such an attack that the ball fell to Stav who scored in the corner. Stratford were handed victory on the day when following a goal mouth scramble another defender scored past her own keeper.

At the end Alveston captain Hayley lifted the trophy given to her by match sponsor Safeway Scaffolding represented by Peter Roach.

Saturday May 2nd 2009:- Alveston Invitation Cup Final 1st Leg:- Stratford Town Girls  2  v  4  Alveston Girls

Laura Stallard making her 50th appearance for the club was as everyone knows is traditional, given the honour of leading the team out as Captain for the day on her special day. Stratford Town as holders were in no mood to release the trophy to the visitors and after this result both teams can still win it. Alveston took the lead through leading scorer Hannah Campbell when she raced clear to score. Becky and Abigail were holding the midfield together really well while both Jihea and Kristi looked assured in defence alongside Laura. Stav and Hannah both had chances to increase the lead but found visiting keeper Kim in more good form. Just before half time Stratford equalized when the winger broke down the left, and cut in before hitting a superb shot high into the net. Trialist Georgie linked up well with Hayley and others and looks a quality player.

The game was played at a fast pace despite the hot weather. Ellie shot wide while Chloe looked dangerous when she moved forward. The 2nd half saw no drop in pace and Hannah scored her 20th of the season to give the visitors the lead and she completed a superb cup final hat trick when she dispossesed the defence to break clear and score her 3rd. The game continued to sway both ways with both teams serving up an excellent match which did the cup final status proud. Alveston scored a 4th when a cross from the right found  Chloe unmarked and she scored. Still Stratford fought forward and were rightly rewarded with a 2nd goal when the ball was played in from the right and the striker shot home, a goal which keeps the tie alive for both teams.

Amy, Jodie and Georgie all contributed well when coming on, Fiona looked comfortable in goal while Stav worked her socks off despite picking up a neck injury during the 1st half. The 2nd leg in 2 weeks time should be a very interesting match with both sides committed to playing more good football in there attempts to secure this years cup. Well done both teams.

Saturday March 28th 2009 :- Alveston Girls   2  v  4  Boldmere Falcons

Having secured 4th place the previous week Alveston seemed to take the foot off the gas this week and were punished by conceeding 3 early and soft goals from which they never really recovered. Fiona was made Captain on this her 50th appearance as is the tradition across all football but neither she or her team mates could prevent the visitors taking a 0 v 3 lead. Ellie scored her 9th goal of the season when she shot from distance high over the strandard keeper before half time to give the home side a glimer of hope. Alveston had all the pressure in the 2nd half but couldnt make this count and it was Boldmere who broke and scored another goal. Hannah then broke clear and having brough the ball under control she shot into the corner of the net leaving the keeper no chance. This was a deserved win for Boldmere against the home side lacking in concentration of some of the basics and by the time they woke up in the 2nd half it was too late and the damage had been done. Lessons to be learnt by all we hope.

Saturday March 21st 2009:-  Redditch United   1  v  4  Alveston Girls

A slow start to the match allowed a depleted Redditch team to take an early lead when the striker shot high over the keeper from distance for a really good opening goal to the match. Alveston did force several early corners, Chloe shot wide as did Stav. Alveston equalized when Hannah controlled the ball outside the penalty area before shooting wide of the keeper and the goal seemed to kick start the visitors into life. Within 2 minutes they were ahead. Stav ran down the wing, swung in a pacy cross which was met by a defender under extreme pressure from Hannah and the ball sailed over the keeper to give Alveston the lead. Still Redditch continued to cause problems with there break away attacks but Alvestons defence held firm.

Into the 2nd half Becky saw her long range effort go over the keeper, only for the ball to bounce up and hit the crossbar and away from danger. Stav hit the side netting, Ellie's shot went wide while Jodies effort was ruled out for offside. Still the Redditch spirit couldnt be broken and they continued to have dangerous break away attacks especially down the right hand side. It was left to striker Hannah to ease the nerves when she completed her hat trick by scoring her 17th goal of the season finishing well. Both sides had further chances before Stevie scored her first ever goal for the club. She shot from distance when challanged and the ball looped over the keeper into the goal to spark happy celebrations amongst those watching from the side lines. This wasnt Alvestons best performance of the season and Redditch deserve full credit for never giving up but the win secured 4th place for Alveston so its importance was vital.

Saturday February 28th 2009:-  Stratford Town Girls   2  v  3  Alveston Girls

Alveston recorded there 8th win of the season away at nearby Stratford Town as they travelled the very short distance with a full squad available. Alveston won several early corners but couldnt make the most of them and the first period was pretty even with neither side having any clear cut chances to score. Jihea was injured following a challange and was replaced by Laura who then continued her recnet good form by making some good clearances, tackles and showed a couple of pieces of skill when controlling the ball. Stratford took the lead when from a throw in the ball ball reached the striker who scored low into the net. Abigail stood out in midfield for the visitors as did Kristi in defence. Alveston equalized when a pass found Stav down the right, she drove on cut inside and shot past the keeper for her 12th goal of the season. Minutes later and before half time the home defender played a ball back to her keeper, Jodie charged towards the keeper who saw the ball somehow get passed her and role into the empty net and give Alveston the lead at the break.

Alveston started fast in the 2nd half and Mae broke clean through but saw her shot role just past the post. Minutes later she did exactly the same only this time her effort was on target and she scored to make it 1 v 3. Mae was then fouled from which Abigails free kick was saved. Several more corners followed for the visitors as well as an excellent cross from Hannah but they couldnt add to there score. Hayley was playing in some excellent balls forward, Amy was in action a lot in midfield while Chloe looked strong and confident when she came on. Stevie looked lively up front while Becky held the defence together and Ellie supported the attackers well. Fiona had little to do in goal in terms of shots saved and a good team spirit showed through well in this game. The home keepers kick caused its usual problems and it was from such a kick that they scored there 2nd when the defender and keeper both failed to deal with it allowing the player to score into an empty net. This led to the expected frantic last 10 minutes but as no more goals were scored Alveston completed the league double over Stratford and remain in 4th spot in the league table.

Saturday February 14th 2009:- Penn Colts  3  v  2  Alveston Girls

Travelling the long journey to Wolverhampton with just 11 players due to half term holidays the girls gave an excellent performance in front of our usual large travelling band of parents. Right from the start Alveston attacked but Stevie's shot went wide. Shortly after her next effort was beaten away by the home keeper only for Stav to score from the rebound with her left foot. Hayley was putting in some good crosses and passing well in midfield while Stav was making constant runs down the right only to be tackled and stopped by the defenders. Mae showed her skill with some excellent control and passes to the strikers while Abigail saw her effort go wide. Penn attacked mostly down the left which meant full back Laura had a busy day. She made some good interceptions and played very well. Penn had a powerfull effort pushed onto the post by Chloe which Becky then cleared just in time. Becky and Ellie used there pace to stem the now frequent attacks but couldnt prevent an equalizer at the far post followed by another goal when the striker ran onto a good pass to score in the corner.

Kristi looked good at left back and Jodie started to come more into the game in the 2nd half. Penn attacked a lot early on before Stav had to leave the pitch following a challange. From a corner a needless handball allowed Penn to score a 3rd goal from the penalty spot. Stevie was causing problems down the right but couldnt get her shots on target. Stav decided to return to try and help her team mates out and when Penn failed to clear the ball it was Stav who scored her 2nd of the game. Both sides had further chances to score and Abigail saved at the strikers feet when she was clean through. Following another foul on Mae just outside the box Chloes free kick was well saved by the home keeper. Really cant fault the effort and committment shown by the girls today who represented the club with pride and gave everything they had. They did tire a little, yes players were missing, yes we picked up injuries but they can all hold there heads up high as i simply cant fault a performance like that. Well done girls, you deserve all the applause our parents gave you at the end.

Saturday January 31st 2009:- Headless Cross  7  v  2  Alveston Girls

What a difference a week makes in football. Headless Cross played some attacking football from the start and some good passing moves as well as balls over the top of our defence allowed there 2 quick strikers to punish our defence as they scored 4 goals in quick succession before half time. Alveston looked lost and seemed unable to do anything to stop the pressure and were being beaten by the better side on the day. Despite not having Mae, Stav or usual keeper Fiona, Alveston tried to stay in the game, but due to injury and illness we had to use 3 different outfield players in goal during the match which did upset the formation of the team on the day. The 2nd half was a more even contest but still Headless Cross scored 3 more goals and deserved there win today. Hannah broke away and scored well followed by Abigails effort being put home by Ellies touch and Alveston did cause more problems as they increased the pace of there play but they were never going to get back into the game. I think its just best to admit the team did not perform very well today, forget about it and move onto next weeks match.

Saturday January 24th 2009:- Alveston Girls  15  v  0  Solihull Borough.

In one of only a very few fixtures played in the 3 divisions today Alveston welcomed there friends from Solihull and both teams provided those watching with a spirited game of girls football. Back to there attacking formation Alveston took the lead through Hannah followed by 2 cool finishes from Mae. Early on Solihull were unable to relieve the pressure and Hannah added 2 more to complete her first ever hat trick with goals which showed her determination and ability to sniff out a goal from any situation. Stav was putting in some excellent crosses from the right hand side from which Hannah powerfully shot over the bar, Ellie hit the side netting and Mae couldnt quite get on the end of.  Ellie then scored against her old club before Mae turned well before scoring to complete her own hat trick. Solihull did push forward and both Jihea and Laura had to deal with these which they did with some confidence. Hayley was making good runs down the left and linking well with Jodie as well as putting in some good crosses for the attackers. Hayley then scored at her near post before Chloes corner found its way into the net. Jodie scored well just before the break to make the half time score 10 v 0, the first time the girls had ever reached double figures in a match.

Jodie scored her 2nd before Mae scored the goal of the game. Having collected the ball on the half way line she controlled it, turned past her marker and then out paced 2 chasing defenders before keeping her cool and finished in the bottom corner, sensational finish. Hannah then almost repeated Mae's effort with a super burst of speed but shot at the keeper. Ellie saw two efforts go wide, Amy shot over the bar while Stav shot wide and then over the bar before seeing the keeper save another of her efforts. Becky who played despite having been ill the day before was heavily involved in the midfield area breaking up attacks and helping to start our own. Jihea had moved up into midfield and from one attack she found the ball at her feet just outside the penalty area, she controlled the ball before scoring low into the corner for her first ever goal. Chloe playing down the right looked quick and strong and scored an excellent goal across the keeper before Mae completed the scoring with her 5th goal of the game. Solihull did cause the home side problems and were awarded a penalty following a push. Kristi who had become our 5th goalkeeper this season and who had shown great confidence all match dived the right way, saved the spot kick as well as the follow up shot. Laura may of played her best ever game for us in defence today, Amy showed her skills and calmness by going on several runs through the midfield areas going forward while Jihea seemed to be enjoying herself in her new midfield role. Great all round team effort from everyone today, and the fact that 7 different players scored tells its own story about how versatile you all are. There has to be praise for the visitors, they never gave up, played the game in the right spirit, did cause us problems at time, and are a credit to there teams name, and will always be made welcome by us here at Alveston.

Saturday January 17th 2009:- Aston Villa 2nds  2  v  0  Alveston Girls

A difficult first game of 2009 and the girls first game for over a month saw them travel to the high flying Aston Villa who after a good match maintained there 100% record with there 10th win in 10 matches. Villa were on the attack from the start and the defence of Ellie, Amy and Becky were very busy trying to cope. Villa nearly took the lead when a shot was blocked by a defender and Fiona somehow managed to get across and palm away the rebound shot for an excellent save. Stav was having some joy down the righ hand side  but shot wide twice following some good runs. Villa took the lead when a weak clearance fell to the striker who ran forward and scored for there first goal. Before long it was 2v0 when the ball was played across the goal for an easy tap in from the same striker. Villa's pace up front was causing problems with Alveston seemingly unable to actually clear there lines.

The 2nd half was a much better performance from the visitors and they had some chances on goal as did the hosts. Fiona saved twice when in one on one situations. Abigail was battling well and covering lots of ground. Hayley was now making progress down the left hand side while Kristi was doing an excellent man marking job all game. Jodie had an improved 2nd half too. Stevie should be pleased with her contribution when she came on especially considering who the opponents were. The Alveston forwards showed plenty of effort as well as some skilful touches but they were too isolated and couldnt get beyond the villa defenders. You just cant start this slowly and give teams such as these a 2 goal start before you begin playing your football. More than pleased with the 2nd halfs effort, committment  and team spirit which shows what we are capable of producing.

Saturday December 13th 2008:- Alveston Girls  1  v  1  Warriors F.C.

The excellent Alveston drainage syatem allowed this fixture to go ahead despite the awful weather conditions. Both sides put on an excellent display of girls football despite the conditions and both teams deserved the point they each came away from the game with. The first encounters were fairly even with both defences having to deal with some attacks from the opposition. Becky saw her shot go over the bar while Ellie was caught offside when put through. Kristi and Jihea both cleared away good attacks from warriors while both hayley and Mae were causing problems down the wings. Chloe and Jodie were battling in midfield but with no clear cut chances for either side it remained scoreless at half time.

Alveston upped the pace of the game in the 2nd half and began putting real pressure on the visitors defence with both Hayley and Jodie getting in good crosses. Hannah was proving a real handfull up front and she showed her new found strength when the keeper spilled the ball. Hannah pounced, won the loose ball and despite the tight angle managed to score her 10th goal of the season. This gave the home side more confidence and Amy, Becky and Mae all winning tackles in midfield. From an excellent cross from Ellie, strike partner Hannah was just unable to get on the end of it and extend the lead. Warriors were always a handful and never gave the game up. There efforts were rewarded when the quick striker was allowed to run with the ball before firing past the keeper for the equalizer. A good game of football with honours shared.

Saturday November 29th 2008:- Alveston Girls  4  v  4  Starlands St Annes

With this matching 3rd against 4th it was always going to be a tight affair and it proved that way but had great excitement and lots of goals as well as plenty of chances at both ends. Starlands had a couple of good attempts which Abigail did well to keep out followed by several corners when they looked dangerous. Alveston took the lead when a good ball was played to Stav who ran on held off a defender and scored with her left foot. Soon after she had a shot which came back off the crossbar. Then Becky hit a superb long range effort which went high over everyone including the keeper and dropped into the net for a great goal. Back came Starlands and again Abigail had to beat away a shot and then another soon after, it really was end to end football. Becky then had another long range shot which came back off the bar and then Stav did the same before half time. Ellie shot wide, Chloe won several tackles in midfield and Hayley showed some great skills beating some opponents. Amy, Jihea and Kristi were trying to stem the flow of the visiting attacks which came thick and fast.

Starlands scored twice early in the 2nd half to level the match which there efforts deserved as the home side began to have some doubts. Stav went close, Hayley caused danger down the left and Jodie battled well in midfield. Laura came on as a striker and helped Hannah and Ellie up front. Hayley was then brought down for a free kick which Becky saw her shot palmed away by the keeper only to see Stav follow up and score into the roof of the net. Soon after the ball fell to Ellie inside the box, she turned and shot past the keeper to restore the home sides 2 goal lead. Back came Starlands and Abigail saved one shot, collected a good corner and saw one effort go wide as the visitors pressed forward. It was 4 v 3 after the visitors scored and then in the last minute they got the equalizer. A great effort from both teams i have to say, excellent football to watch for the neutral, but not good for the blood pressure for the managers!

Monday November 24th 2008:- Alveston Girls  8  v  0  Solihull Borough

Playing under the floodlights at the Home Guard, Alveston gained 3 more valuable points and kept a clean sheet in the process. Playing against her old team, Ellie opened the scoring within the first 2 minutes when she scored from close range with her right foot when a headed goal looked possible! Mae added a second soon after and then Alveston forced a series of corners and had several attacks before Hannah scored when she shot home from close range. Stav had some strong runs down the right and shot wide a couple of times as the home side forced all the pressure. Solihull rarely escaped there own half but battled well. Becky, Jihea and Kristi looked comfortable in defence while Jodie made good progress from midfield. Hayley linked well with the attack especially with Mae and Stav while Abigail looked strong in midfield too. Ellie added her 2nd before half time and the game looked safe at this point.

It took more attacks but over 15mins before the next goal which came when Mae beat her marker and scored at the near post. Then Ellie completed her first ever hat trick with a strong shot from the right. Stevie and Laura both got involved in defence and stopped any Solihull attacks in a game which saw Fiona in the home goal touch the ball less than 6 times all match. Chloe saw her shot well saved, Stavs effort was also saved as Alveston continued to dominate the play. Becky was getting forward a lot more now and she scored her first goal for the club with an excellent shot past the keeper. Still Alveston pressed the Solihull defence and this paid off when Hannah scored her 2nd of the night to round off a good team performance by the home side.

Saturday November 15th 2008:- Alveston Girls  0  v  3  Penn Colts

The divisions top scorers Penn Colts visited Alveston and took away all 3 points. Fiona made 2 good saves early in the match as the visitors settled quicker. Hayley shot wide before another Penn shot was saved. Some hesitation in the home defence allowed Penn to take the lead and they continued to cause problems and created more scoring opportunities. Alveston stood and watched the ball bounce a few times allowing Penn to increase there lead before Stav had a shot go just wide of the post. Abigail also shot just over before Chloe did the same. Kristi setteld well into the defence playing her best game for us so far. Both Amy and Jihea looked good in defensive roles as we struggled to create too many more chances to score. Hannah, Mae and Ellie gave everything in attack but without much success against a fast paced and strong tackling visiting team. Penn later hit the bar following another attack. Without Fiona making some more saves the score might of been higher. Today was one of those games where we say the better team won on the day though i didnt think we were that far away from them in general, which the girls should take heart from. In my opinion i think Penn will be right up there come the end of the season and were a pleasure to play against today.Plenty of more football still to be played this season for us so heads up and lets go again next match girls.

Saturday November 8th 2008:- CallowBrook Swifts  2  v  1  Alveston Girls ( 1st Round of Cup )

A cup tie that had plenty of action and drama. A wet pitch, a long journey, an injured goalkeeper, shots hitting the cross bar and goals too. The hosts settled quicker and attacked more, early in the game. One shot went wide before a mix up between defender and keeper gifted them the early lead. Alveston had there own attacks from one great run Mae lifted her shot from distance only to see it hit the bar. Hannah and Hayley combined well on several occassions to cause a threat down the left while Stav was causing problems for them down the right. CallowBrook added to there lead midway into the first half. Having had the better of the early play the hosts were put under pressure when Alveston won several corners in succession and from one the ball rolled accross the penalty area allowing Hannah to shoot first time high into the net. Minutes before half time Fiona was taken off injured following a collision with a striker, and played no further part in the match.

Jodie took over in goal for the 2nd half and never had one single save to make all half. Alveston laid siege to the hosts goal. Hayley shot wide as did Stav, one shot hit the bar, Maes effort was blocked and had another saved. Corners were won but still Alveston couldnt find the equalizer. This continued pressure carried on for the whole of the 2nd half with the hosts reduced to the odd break away attack but no shots. The referee spoke to a home player following a crude kick out at Stav, and to a home parent for abuse towards Graham our assistant with the flag. Hannah, Mae and Hayley all went close again but no goal came. Minutes before the end Stav beat 2 defenders but saw her shot saved and the game ended. Great football especially in the 2nd half and plenty of positives to take away despite the result. Good luck to CallowBrook in the 2nd Round.

Saturday November 1st 2008:- Alveston Girls  6  v  3  Headless Cross

The teams observed a minutes silence in memory of local fire fighter Ian Reid who along with 3 colleagues lost his life last year, having supported Martin coaching the girls squad in season 1. The game was a good game to watch with plenty of action, starting with a 1st minute injury which put Ellie out of the match to be replaced by Hayley who then opened the scoring with a left foot shot into the net following up a home attack. Stav looked dangerous every time she got the ball and added a 2nd when she shot powerfully high into the roof of the net. Stav shot just wide, as did Hayley before the twins saw there excellent passing and shooting result in an effort ruled out for offside. Abigail played well in midfield alongside Becky who put in another impressive performance. Kristi making her home debut looked strong in midfield, while Chloe made several good brave saves in goal. Hannah had an effort smothered, and Alveston forced a few corners as they put pressure on the visitors. Headless Cross did cause some problems and had some good shots saved or saw them go wide. Jihea, Laura, Stevie and Jodie all helped keep them at bay.

The 2nd half saw Chloe come out and play in midfield and she battled well and shot wide with an effort. Stav continued her excellent form and created her own space to move into before shooting past the keeper. Jodie looked very comfortable on the ball, Becky put in lots of effort today which paid dividends while Hayley made several good runs down the left hand side. The visitors then scored one of there own before Hannah beat the keeper with a good shot to make it 4 - 1. There were little signs of the clubs 1st headed goal though despite more corners being won. Stav then finished well into the bottom corner to complete her first ever hat trick for the club, which she richly deserved on todays performance. Headless Cross continued to push forward and they scored 2 more good goals to stay in the match.  Hannah then outpaced the defence to reach a ball that the keeper should of come out and collected and she scored well into the corner. She then had an effort to score her hat trick but she couldnt convert the chance. Amy looked pacy going forward without having any clear cut opportunities today, while solid performances from Laura, Becky and Hayley, contributed to the girls 5th win of the season, an excellent start.

Saturday October 25th 2008:- Boldmere Falcons  0  v  3  Alveston Girls

On a windy chilly but dry day Alveston again hit the road to an away fixture that has always been a tricky sort of a fixture to try and get a result from. With some girls missing due to half term from both sides it was good to see some strength in depth amongst the squad. During the first 10 minutes play was fairly even with neither side having any clear goal chances. Once things settled down Alveston began forcing the pace, with Hayley shooting wide and Hannah seeing a shot saved. From more pressure Hayley again found an opening but the keeper madethe save but from the rebound Ellie managed to open the scoring. This helped settle the girls down and some corners followed as did some good work down the right hand side from Stav who was beating opponents at will. Amy, Jihea and Stevie were in control in defence well supported by Laura when she came on. In the heart of midfield Becky looked quality today alongside the determined Chloe. Just before half time Alveston scored again when Stav went on a run, beat several defenders before hitting a great long range shot that went in right inside the top corner of the net.

For the 2nd hald Chloe went in goal with Abigail coming into midfield and she did a good job here. Becky continued to run things and was very busy. Hannah saw her shot hit the side netting, while the impressive Kristi making her team debut looks like a quality signing as she tackled and challanged for everything. Alveston always looked likely to score again and they did when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penelty area. Abigail ran up and shot powerfully over the wall into the far corner, a great strike. Several corners followed and Becky shot just wide but Alveston couldnt add to there score. A good away win and a valuable 3 away points.

Saturday October 18th 2008:- Alveston Girls 2 v 4 Aston Villa 2nds

The first 10 minutes saw both teams have some attacks and both won corners in an even opening to the game. Hayley saw her shot go over the bar while Fiona collected a dangerous through ball just in time. Villa took the lead with a powerful shot into the bottom corner. Alveston continued to play good football and there paitence paid off when the ball fell to Chloe who controlled the ball before shooting from distance high into the air and watched as the ball looped over everyone into the back of the net a great equalizer. However within minutes Villa had regained the lead when from a corner an attacker headed powerfully past everyone for an excellent goal. Fiona then tipped a shot over the bar and then collected a corner safely. The defence were trying to cope with the quality of the Villa attackers and were doing a good job but realized they were up against some decent players. Jodie, Stav Hayley and Chloe were all battling hard in midfield and were starting some decent attacks. Close to half time Villa were awarded a penalty which they scored to make it 1 v 3 at the interval.

Alveston altered some positions and came out playing some quality football. Hannah was sent clear but shot just wide while Stav began making some excellent runs only to see the keeper save her efforts. Jihea, Hannah and Ellie looked better in defence 2nd half as did Stevie and Laura when they came on. Fiona was again called into action and saved bravely at the strikers feet when she was clean through.  Mae was offering good support to Hannah up front and soon another great pass saw Hannah burst away with defenders chasing her. She used her pace, kept her cool and shot across the keeper into the far corner, her 4th goal in 5 games now. The game was fairly even and it was good football on show for a large crowd. Villa scored again before the end but Alveston can take a lot of credit from todays performance and the part they played in an excellent game of girls football.

Saturday October 4th 2008:- Warriors F.C.  1  v  6  Alveston Girls

Without some key players Alveston made the difficult trip to Warriors looking for there 1st away win of the season and this they managed to achieve. Good early pressure from Jodie and Hannah in attack was well supported by Hayley and Ellie in midfield. It was Hayley who opened the scoring when her shot was deflected past the keeper early in the half. Hannah provided some excellent crosses from the right as did Ellie from the left. Becky was having her best game for the club so far with some tireless running and challanges in midfield. Stevie looked comfortable in her role and the defence did not look troubled. Jodies shot was saved as was an effort from Rianne. Chloe looked safe in goal for the first half.

Mae arrived in time for the 2nd half and almost immediatley scored the sides 2nd goal when she brilliantly rounded the keeper from close range to score. She soon added her 2nd when she held off a defender to beat the keeper again from close range. Ellie then had a fantastic shot from distance tipped onto the crossbar only to see Mae finish the rebound off for her hat trick. Warriors thern broke through and the striker used her pace to score. Still Alveston applied pressure and soon a good ball found Hannah who again found a good position before scoring with confidence. Ellie was not to be denied her first ever goal when she dribbled past 2 defenders before scoring low into the corner, excellent finish. Jihea, Amy and Laura all looked good in defence today and this was a good squad performance and a well earned 3 points in front of a good group of encouraging supporters.

Saturday September 27th 2008:- Alveston Girls  6  v  0  Stratford Town Girls

Both teams were missing players who were either away or injured but still put on a good game of girls football for the large watching crowd on a dry day at The Home Gurad site. In the first of 4 meetings this season Alveston attacked from the start but found Stratford stand in keeper Davies in good form saving from both Gibbs, Figgett and Williams. Stevie made her full debut for Alveston and played well having recovered from a recent injury. Stav opened the scoring when she was freed by Mae and ran onto to score the clubs 100th goal since forming.  Jodie then went close with an effort before Chloes effort hit the bar and went over. Amy was running the home defence with some confidence supported well by Jihea, Laura and Ellie. Indeed Ellie made a couple of fantastic runs down the wing and looked like she enjoyed herself today. Jodie scored her first for the club when after good work from Stav she scored across the keeper. Hayley and Abigail were combining very well in the center of midfield and look a good partnership there. Hannah was tackling well down the right  and offered good support to the strikers.

Despite Mae losing a tooth at half time she lined up for the 2nd half and soon fed Jodie who cut cut inside and scored her 2nd goal of the day. The confidence was evident amongst the home side  now and Chloe scored when her long range shot squirmmed under the keepers body for the 4th goal. Stav's shot then came back off the bar and allowed Hayley to volley home from the edge of the area. Hannah's free kick then went just wide before Chloes effort was saved. Stav's shot was stopped on the line before Stratford had a goal disallowed for offside. Stratford continued to battle and challnage  but couldnt prevent a 6th goal scored by Hannah when she burst through from the half way line and held off a defender before scoring powerfully past the keeper.

Saturday September 20th 2008:- Starlands St Annes  4  v  1  Alveston Girls.

On another very warm morning Alveston made the trip out to Walsall to play the early league leaders without the injured Rianne and Stevie. Full respect to Stevie for making the journey to support the rest of the squad. Alveston seemed a little slow starting the match and were soon on the back foot. Jihea clearing when under pressure and both Amy and Ellie making crucial tackles when faced with attackers upon them close to goal. Alveston seemed unable to mount an attack and though they competed in midfield they were often coming off 2nd best and struggling to cope with some long balls played over the top of the defence. Starlands took the lead when a striker pounced onto a through ball and beat Fiona in goal. This seemed to be it until half time but minutes before the break Alveston failed to clear a cross from the right and allowed the 2nd goal to be scored from close range.

Alveston started the 2nd half much brighter and both Mae and Stav had efforts on goal. Jodie continued to battle in midfield as did Chloe and Abigail. Amy again came to the rescue with an excellent clearance when under pressure while Hannah never gave up in trying to move the ball forward.  The home side extended there lead when following a spell of pressure they forced the ball home from close range. Hayley fed a good ball through to Stav who raced down the right but couldnt get a cross in before Laura passed well to Stav who out ran the defence to score her 2nd of the season. Alveston continued to battle and never gave up but couldnt prevent Starlands adding a 4th when Fiona saved but the striker stabbed home the ball.

Saturday September 13th 2008:-  Alveston Girls  8  v  2  Redditch United

On a very warm morning Alveston played there first game of the season and gave debuts to no less than 7 new summer signings. Alveston started strongly and created several good chances which saw Stav shoot just wide, Hannahs great header flash just past a post and Maes shot well saved. The defence looked very comfortable while Jodie and chloe were causing problems going forward and Becky and Hayley were controlling the midfield. Substitute Abigail then shot from about 30yards out and the keeper could only stand and watch as the ball dropped over her head for the first goal and her first ever goal for the club. Soon after Hannah controlled the ball well steadied herself before scoring in the far corner for her debut goal, a great start for her. Redditch did show flashes of there pace and after Fiona had saved well from a powerfull shot the attacker followed up and scored from the rebound. Before half time Mae became the clubs leading all time goalscorer when she jinxed her way past some defenders before calmly slotting the ball home.

Ellie was looking strong in defence as did Stevie and Laura while Amy showed her pace on several occassions making some strong tackles and looks a good prospect for the season ahead. Redditch did then break early into the 2nd half and shot past Fiona to make it 3 v 2. Within a minute Alveston had scored again through Mae followed soon after by a good goal from Chloe whose efforts today deserved a goal. Alveston continued to push forward and they scored again when Mae completed her hat trick with another quality finish. Jihea was dealing with anything Redditch had with her quick defending as did Rianne, while Abigail scored her 2nd of the match when she forced home the ball from close range. Stav scored her goal before the end to complete the scoring which was great as the keeper had saved so many of her previous efforts today. A good solid start to the season, well done girls
